a career oriented girl.
I have said a million times before
that all I really aspired to be
was a mom and a housewife.
I know that makes many women crazy!!!!!
I have many friends who can't stand the idea
of staying at home and playing June Cleaver.
I respect them for that.
That's what makes people so fun to be around,
we are all different.
I have never wanted to be the
stay at home mom who plays tennis,
lunches with the girls,
shops with the girls,
gets her nails done with the girls
and goes to the Country Club with the girls.
I truly wanted and still want to be
the mom/wife that stays home
makes bread
cleans my home a little everyday so it stays tidy,
grows my own organic veggies, fruits and herbs
and put them up for the winter so that we have homegrown loveliness
all winter long.
I want to be able to add to our farm animals so that we can
increase out self sustaining lifestyle.
Yesterday was my perfect day.
Robby and I spent the entire day outside,
doing things around the yard and house.
It was the kind of day I wish everyday to be.
Fresh air, doing physical work, taking breaks
and reflecting on how lucky we are.
Robby and I are a great team.
People say we are night and day in our personalities.
But our core values are the exact same, and that is
what makes "us" work.
I can't wait for the day when our yesterday, is the way our
everyday, ordinary day is.
I am so lucky that my boys are able to see this side of life.
They really have the best of both worlds.
With their dad and soon to be step mom,
they get the "city" life filled with all the good things
that has to offer.
And with Robby and I,
they see a whole other side.
When they were babies and I made their baby food
from scratch, they didn't know what that meant.
They didn't know the reasons I felt it was necessary to do that.
I wanted to know they were being fed the healthiest foods
possible. I breast fed them for as long as possible so they
were off to a good start. And I have made it
my mission in life to continue to feed them that same way
even though they are now
20, 18, 16 and 14.
And the great thing is,
they GET IT.
They are totally into the whole homegrown,
home raised, sustainable living Robby and I are striving for.
They want it, they miss it when they aren't here.
So yeah, I may get laughed at and drive many of my friends crazy
with my desire to stay at home and do it all "naturally",
but when I can see my kids appreciating and longing for
that life that I can provide them with, it makes it all worth while.
And one of these days, mark my words,
I will make yesterday, an ordinary day.
And you may even find me sewing, knitting and crocheting
my own clothes and textiles from wool I sheared off my sheep:)
(don't hold your breath for that one, but it may happen)
Planting Red Onions
Planting Yellow Onions
Robby trimming the Wisteria growing on the arbor.
I rake the leaves out of the flower beds into a pile and Maxwell scratches in the pile and spreads them all around:)
The chickies love being out in the yard with us.
Beauty loves her new brother and sisters. She watches over them to be sure they are safe. She just doesn't understand why she can't play with them.
Signs of Spring. Daffodils will soon be blooming.
Learning to drive Mr. Johnny Deere.
Success!!!!! I didn't crash into anything or tear anything down:)
No matter what that life may look like to others,
follow your dreams.
It's your life and only you, should and can live it.
I will keep chasing my dream
and one day I intend to catch it all.
Happy Sunday!!!
Love and Laughter,
Debbie

You go girl! It's good to hear that you are proud to be a stay at home mom and enjoy living off the land. It sounds like heaven to me!

Jeanne, thanks so much for your sweet comment. I am actually not a stay at home mom right now, I work as a nurse full-time. I stayed home for the first 11 years of my children's lives, then I had to go back to work. But I long for the day I DO get to stay home and make everyday be like yesterday was and I am working towards that goal, each and everyday. Thanks again for reading my blog and for leaving me such a sweet message!!
