Weekend Filled With Love

A little time for some art.

This weekend was not only a gorgeous Fall weekend, but a weekend spent with me doing many of the things I love.

Saturday morning the sun came up and promised it would be a beautiful day.  A little different than the sunrises I posted last time, but every bit as beautiful if not more so since they were taken in my front yard.

Can't have a bad day when this is what you see once the sun comes up.

First thing was to take the boys over to see our neighbors pig, Finger Lickin.  Supposedly she had learned a new trick where when you scratch her belly, she falls down onto her back like a dog and shakes her legs and squeals like crazy.  We just had to try it for ourselves.

Love how she comes right up to the camera for her close up:)

Trevor started rubbing her belly and she immediately dropped onto her back for a belly rub.  She was acting just like our dog Beauty.  She almost fell asleep at one point while Trevor was rubbing her belly.  It was soooo adorable.  She never did start shaking her legs or squealing, but it was still pretty darn cute.  She only started squealing once you stopped petting her.  Then I think she just got upset we weren't paying her any attention and so of course, we would start rubbing her belly again.

Trevor rubbing Finger Lickin's belly just before she dropped onto her back.

We went to buy some fresh local apples so we could have fried apples with dinner.  They were so good.  Trevor has requested brownies and pumpkin pie  this weekend.  So, brownies it was for Saturday night dessert.  Of course you can't just have brownies, you have to have brownies sundaes right?  Indeed you do.  SO..... here is what we had for dessert.

Can you say decadently delicious?
After dinner the boys all plopped down to watch football.  Not me!!!  It was time for me to start working on my super exciting on-line workshop I am doing.  It is called  No More Excuses and it is taught by Gina Armfield.  You can check out her on-line classes HereI have been so excited to start this workshop.  It is all about Art Journaling and even though the first few lessons are about setting your journal up to create art in, I just love the process.  Gina's videos are so informative and easy to follow.  I can't wait to get my journal all set up so I can start doing my daily assignments and start laying down some uber cool art.

My kitchen table/workspace last night.  A glass of wine always helps to get the creative juices flowing.

So that ended my Saturday. I kissed the boys goodnight, climbed into bed, snuggled up next to Robby and dreamed of my art journal all night, hahahaha.  Today was another great day.  Once again the boys were glued to the TV watching football when not doing homework, and I was working on another art project.  I have been following Junelle over at http://yesandamenblog.blogspot.com/.  She has been doing a little exercise on sketching and I have been trying to follow along.  This sketch and watercolor I did was my interpretation of one of her pieces.  The writing really has nothing to do with the picture, but I just love the words.  The words were my own idea to add to the picture, but the quote is not my own original idea.

Love these words.
The day was made perfect when I had a really nice and lengthy phone conversation with my oldest son Garrett.  I just love this boy so much and so badly want to fix the road of his life so that there are no bumps in it for him and things will go smoothly for him.  Actually, I wish that I could do that for all of my boys, but I guess that if we could do that, they would never learn for themselves.  I just hate watching my boys struggle for things in life, but I know it is just part of life and how we learn.  He is hoping to move to California in the very near future.  My heart will break because he will be on the other side of the country since I am in Virginia, but I admire the fact that he is trying to follow a dream and make it into his reality.  He is the most like his mama in that he has such a free spirit.  He wants to see only good in everyone and everything and is very much the dreamer like me.  It took me a long time to make my dreams and the reality of the world mesh together in a cohesive way, but I know in due time, it will happen for Garrett too.

The world is yours Garrett, make it what you will.
This picture of Garrett was taken a few years ago, but I think it captures his spirit 100%.  I just love this picture of him and how free he looks.  I just want to wrap myself inside of those arms of his and hold onto him forever.
I could not have asked for a better weekend.  All of the things I loved made up my days.  Good food, creative art, simple country pleasures, the love of my boys and family.  I hope you all had a weekend as nice as mine.  Embrace each day and make the most of your time.
